The IRLEN Method

The Irlen Method

The Irlen Method is non-invasive technology that uses colored overlays and filters (tinted lenses) to improve the brain’s ability to process visual information.  It is the only method scientifically proven to successfully correct the processing problems associated with Irlen Syndrome.

The cornerstone of the Irlen Method is its precision-tinted colored overlays and filters. We use advanced color spectrometer technology to ensure that our overlays and colored glasses meet strict standards of color balancing designed to produce the most effective color-correction tool. This technology can improve reading fluency, comfort, comprehension, attention, and concentration while reducing light sensitivity. This is NOT a method of reading instruction. It is a color-based technology that filters out offensive light waves, so the brain can accurately process visual information.

SOI Structure of Intellect!

What is SOI?

SOI is a set of tools based on J.P. Guilford’s Structure of Intellect (SOI) theory to help students and adults improve their learning abilities. By focusing on improving the underlying brain functions that are impeding their progress, we see huge gains in overall cognitive function, and even the remediation of learning disabilities. SOI learning programs range from readiness in kindergarten, to training and career counselling in industry, to rehabilitation in corrections.

Anyone can benefit from SOI, from beginning learners to the learning disabled, to the academically gifted. SOI can offer this broad range of testing, teaching, and training services because it is based on a proven theory of human intelligence. (Source: SOI Systems Canada)

"You can run for me anytime!

“You can run for me anytime!”
A simple phrase that sparked a movement.

We all have friends who say, “run some for me,” because they don’t WANT to run. But what about those who can’t run for physical or developmental reasons?  Having been inspired by a close friend battling bilateral hip dysplasia, Founder Tim Boyle discovered a whole new inspiration to run.

Canadian Down Syndrome Society

The Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS) is a non-profit organization that provides Down syndrome advocacy in Canada.

Our Vision

All people are valued, fully participating citizens.

Our Mission

To empower Canadians with Down syndrome and their families. We raise awareness and provide information on Down syndrome through the prenatal, early childhood, school years, adulthood, and retirement stages of life.

The Prep Program

The PREP Program (PREP) is where families, who have a child with Down syndrome, find expert advice, innovative services, and best of all, hope, for their child’s future. The goal is “inclusion for life” and that begins in the home, continues at school, then leads to an independent life with a meaningful job. Parents connect in a welcoming, supportive community that accepts their child’s disability yet challenges them to expect more.

PREP partners with government, community sponsors, and individual donors to provide educational, therapy and family support services that enable each child to achieve his or her own unique potential and help parents become their child’s best advocate.

At PREP it is all about “inclusion for life” and it is happening in Calgary first!
